Blushing Basics

First it was red, and now shades of pink are slowly taking over my life….

Last year was a year of basics for me.  I tried doing a minimalist capsule wardrobe which led to many shades of black and grey. I think a year of black can really turn a person on to  color ha!  At least with this person it has.

Make no mistake.  Black will be my #1 forever ever.  BUT, there is something about 2016 so far that has inspired me to change my outlook on my style.  My bff helped myedescribe my personal style as “fluid”.  Meaning, I am always changing and never sticking to just one definable style.

The one consistency in my wardrobe has always been blackety black. And although that will NEVER change, as my life becomes more and more colorful so does my wardrobe.

And so it begins….

THIS dress. The moment I laid eyes on this dress my love affair with red began.  I had never been a fan of the color, but this shade of red (crab apple!) changed the game for me.  Everything about this dress attracted me–color, cut, fabric.  ‘Twas love at first sight.  It was just too perfect! Even more, I am so lucky to have had it gifted to me.

I wore it all through the holiday season and it’s time to whip it out again for Valentines Day.  This dress makes me feel girly, flirty, and colorful.  Oh, it is love…..

I am aware that not everyone cares about Valentines Day. However, I am a sucker for themes and holidays.  I absolutely love dressing up for holidays but I also have moments where I just don’t care and would rather be in something super comfortable. If you are just like me, GUESS WHAT? We can have both!  In all honesty I think wearing anything red or pink will do.  It could even just be lipstick or nail polish. But for those of us who want that “Effortless Valentine” look, I hope you enjoyed this post.

Want to glam it up a bit??  Stay tuned for a more dressy Vday look on the next post!
